Heart Health
Hello! My name is Marco T. Castagna. I am interventional cardiologist with solid clinical and research experience, practicing for over 35 years.
I reached a level of clinical excellence publishing several articles, receiving awards and treating patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) including heart attacks on a daily basis, striving to reduce the morbidity and mortality of these citizens.
I have a clear mission to foster mechanisms for improving processes and tools to achieve these goals. That’s why I’ve created AngelUS.
CAD is the leading cause of mortality worldwide, killing more than 8 million people annually. Every year in the United States, more than 1 million people suffer heart attacks. It kills over 360K.
The American Heart Association says that approximately every 39 seconds an American will have a heart attack. If this happens outside of a hospital, there is a 90% chance they will not survive. Every moment is critical.
This is a situation that might increase as the population ages and becomes more exposed to cardiovascular risk factors.
This chart shows the out-of-hospital sites of cardiac arrest due to myocardial infarction in the US.

The same phenomena happened in Lombardia, Italy, according to New England Journal of Medicine research.
